MagicJack New Screen interface

I have an original MagicJack from 2008 that I still use as my main phone service. Yesterday, MagicJack's inventor died. Today the interface has changed to something rather Metro (Windows 8-like). I hate it. I hate it a lot.

MagicJack GO New dialer interface

This new dialer interface is a "BIG BLUE MESS", it takes up too much space and you can't reduce it's size. I use my magicJack for business, this dialer is designed for home use, it doese'nt present itself serious enough for business use.

The hold feature is nice but not at the loss of so much screen real estate. Also privacy is a issue, your entire customer base with name and phone number is exposed.

Any one walking by your pc knows who you called last and who your talking to. MagicJack redo this horrific screw-up, design something smaller with features like privacy, a hold button, the option of reducing the dialer size and please, please, please get rid of that ugly color theme.

Anyone else have thoughts on the new Metro-like interface?

I just experienced the new interface today as well. My "gut reaction" was basically the same as yours -- I hate it. But then I hate people changing anything that works - I hate change for the sake of change. And I don't like having to re-learn things.

BUT, in this case it took me all of 2 minutes to get used to it and now I'm fine. I still hate change just for the sake of change but in this my final reaction is just simply ....

    MEH

I have much bigger (read ... "important" ) things to deal with.

I agree. It isn't a matter of getting used to it or having to hunt around. It's usable enough. The problem is it's just plain ugly and garish. I'd like the option of choosing the original, far more attractive interface.

I got it today and like most of you don't like it. The 2 major reasons are that it's just too big and takes up too much real estate and you see fewer contacts without having to scroll! I don't like the look but I'm sure I can get used to it these other problems however are going to linger on until the next change!

But, for me, the new interface now asks me if to accept every incoming call! Anyone else see this? I normally have the mj plugged into an old pc to use magic features to kill call waiting and block a few numbers. So their accept call question is major issue for me. Any ideas as to how to stop that?

I am getting the same thing as you. I had to shut down magic features to get the calls to come through to my phone. I miss being able to use the magic features though, its how I blocked telemarketers! Let me know if you figure out how to get them to work together. I am not impressed at all with this new interface.

When using a MagicJack Plus connected to a windows pc's USB port and using the Magic Features program (to disable Call Waiting and filter a few phone numbers).. each incoming phone call results in a pop-up message on the PC of "Want to accept this call ? Yes or No". My phone does not ring. The caller gets a continuous ringing signal. This behavior has started with the new Magic Jack interface program within the past week or so. The MJ+ works fine and normally when plugged directly into the Internet.

The format of the pop-up is the same as the new gaudy Magic Jack interface program. So this tells me that this is a 'feature' of Magic Jack and not Magic Features. It seems like in this USB mode .. Magic Jack assumes there is no physical phone plugged in and instead it acts as a 'soft phone' on the PC. If you click on "Yes" (accept the phone call), my physical phone still does not ring. (But outgoing phone calls from the physical work fine.)

I've chatted online with Magic Jack but they did not admit to any sort of program change that should cause this. I've also emailed Magic Features with this same complaint.

I'll add my dissatisfaction with the new interface to the growing list of upset users. Magicfeatures is useless now and they haven't offered any help, as yet, and I email them DAILY. MagicJack is even worse with their "help" solution. All their chat agents will do is tell you to download the uninstaller and software (from links they provide), then uninstall/reinstall, which helps nothing!!! I use the original MagicJack device and have been extremely happy for over 2 years, but now I'm regretting having recently signed up for 5 more years in advance. The caller ID on my phone doesn't work now and their agent told me that some phones are incompatible with MJ's digital signal. What a load of bull! It's the same phone that has been hooked up to MJ for the entire time and has always had caller ID working. I'm looking for a new VoIP service but it kinda irks me that I've paid for MJ for 5 years and paid for Magicfeatures "for life", which means I basically throw the money in the trash when I switch. I don't care that the interface is ugly, but I do care that it's not as functional as the old version... and no option from MJ to rollback to the old version!
