Magicjack Go: Magicjack Go Review

I have very bad luck before with Magicjack before the Plus model came out. Wondering if the Go model is preferable to the Plus model. Looks like both work directly off your router. Of course ideally I'd like to use an IP phone but it doesn't look like its possible. Could someone please confirm that?

MagicJackGO vs MagicJackPlus 2014

So I went to the site and noticed apparently today there is a new device called "GO" and it comes with 1 year of service. Why would they make a Plus 2014 and a GO or are these the same things re-branded?

I actually have the 1st (Desktop Only Version), 2nd (Direct Connect RJ45 to Router), and 3rd Generation (Wi-Fi Connect to Router) Dongles on hand. I remember having to buy a HP Compaq t5710 Thin Client Computer, do a Firmware Update to save OS that boots-up with the 1st Generation Dongle attached and use it without the Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor (all 3 removed) just because it was quiet (no Fans) and used very little electricity. Then, MJ

MagicJack Caller ID

MagicJack Caller ID works when plugged into computer Not when plugged in AC

We have had the magicjack only a week and the caller id worked plugged into the AC adapter for a day then quit working. But caller id works when plugged into computer. Its not the router because I plug it directly to the modem and it still doesn't work. It I use the resistor trick sometimes it won't even ring or I get an error on the display rather than incoming call it tells me incomplete data. Anyone else have this?

SIP Credentials for MagicJack 2015

Stroths MagicJack Utilities Suite v1.6

**WARNING** Although I don't see this causing any damage, I take no responsibility for anything this may do to your system. Use at your own risk and please make a backup before running.

Description
I decided to incorporate several of the apps I have written into an easy to use GUI. It includes the SIP Info checker, MJ Upgrader, and some other nice features.

Regarding the SIP Info checker, it will pull your SIP credentials from your MagicJack. This is purely for educational purposes and should NOT be used to circumvent your MJ hardware. This is against their TOS and should not be done.

Getting your MagicJack on your SIP Asterisk or Trixbox VOIP Server

First step is simple. Learn how to Hack your computer ;-). Just kidding. Follow along.

The concept is basic even if it looks hard.
Your Magic jack leaves the information in memory for a short period as it starts. That's the information we can later use to setup Asterisk, Trixbox or even you grandstream or linksys voip hardware.
You'll need a couple of things:
- Your MajicJack plugged in
- The Stroths MJ Utilities Suite V1.6 (you can download it here)

MagicJack New Screen interface

I have an original MagicJack from 2008 that I still use as my main phone service. Yesterday, MagicJack's inventor died. Today the interface has changed to something rather Metro (Windows 8-like). I hate it. I hate it a lot.

MagicJack GO New dialer interface

This new dialer interface is a "BIG BLUE MESS", it takes up too much space and you can't reduce it's size. I use my magicJack for business, this dialer is designed for home use, it doese'nt present itself serious enough for business use.

The hold feature is nice but not at the loss of so much screen real estate. Also privacy is a issue, your entire customer base with name and phone number is exposed.

Top Ten Frustrating Reasons Why Your magicJack Plus Won’t Connect

Your magicJack… Sometimes it won’t ring. Sometimes you can’t call out. Since magicJack does not have 24-hour live chat support, you end up figuring it out for yourself. Check out the top 10 most frustrating reasons why your device isn’t connecting. Let’s get the most obvious ones out of the way first. Then we’ll head for the more obscure.
  1. Your device registration has lapsed. If you didn’t set it to autorenew, you may or may not be able to renew manually. It can’t hurt to try. Go to my.magicJack.com. Log in and attempt to renew.
  2. Your internet service is temporarily out. This one’s easy — Reboot your modem, router and phone, maybe even your computer.
  3. Your phone may be incompatible with the magicJack. It may be a very old AT&T corded phone with real bells, jerry-rigged to work with RJ-11 jacks. Apparently some Uniden phones are also incompatible. Try Panasonic. In any case, try a different corded or cordless phone.

MagicJack voicemail again

I've had Magic Jack for years now & no longer use it on a house phone. I use the iOS app on my Ipod Touch. For well over a year it worked just fine then I started getting calls that the notification center said were "missed calls". I called myself on the house phone and it went directly to voicemail but the ipod kept on ringing. I got into a live chat & was upgraded to a senior tech. Time after time he and I tried turning off VM completely on the site to no avail. He got frustrated and typed that their web servers were down and not accepting new settings and just closed the chat on me. The thing is that the delay was set to 30 seconds & it was going to VM on the very first ring before all this discovery. I am thinking there is another variable involved here & just want them to fix it but still not working.

MagicJack can not call local Canadian phone number 311

I have tried to call local phone numbers with the magicjack and have been unable.  I can not call Canadian phone number like 311 ?

Update:
I had to use the local phone number as in the following

MagicJack Poor Audio

Using MJ+. Caller hears me crystal clear, but caller's voice fades in and out to a point where I can't hear them.

I have tried different USB ports, rebooted the modem/router. Could this be a faulty MJ device?

MagicJack as a landlines POTS

I have been considering the switch to MagicJack Plus and would like to know if I could install MJ along with my landline? I would not want to vacate my landline untill I was satisfied with MJ. If I could, could I use both (not at the same time)?

I’ve long been a proponent of Voice over IP (VoIP), having dumped the phone company over 7 years ago.  During this period I’ve used 2 major vendors and only  switched to the latest one because my former VOIP supplier was getting greedy.  The price performance has been outstanding and the quality has been more than acceptable.  I’ve never stood still and have continuously compared other VoIP providers offers, but I have not considered magicJack a serious player.  This is because the magicJack required your computer to be running for it to work.. That’s until now!
