MagicJack Caller ID

MagicJack Caller ID works when plugged into computer Not when plugged in AC

We have had the magicjack only a week and the caller id worked plugged into the AC adapter for a day then quit working. But caller id works when plugged into computer. Its not the router because I plug it directly to the modem and it still doesn't work. It I use the resistor trick sometimes it won't even ring or I get an error on the display rather than incoming call it tells me incomplete data. Anyone else have this?

Caller-id stopped working, but I had this unit for 30 months now.

One of the lawsuit document, referred to above, indicates that MJ has engineers working in Israel and customer service is out of Philippines.

Like others, MJ Plus (2012) Caller ID quit working about 2 1/2 weeks ago, along with selective incoming calls dropping after 4-7 seconds. Luckily my neighbor has MJ Plus (2012 version) has MJ Plus that was manufactured with a Serial Number about 70,000 less than mine. I purchased in March of 2013. So, we eliminated my USB extension cord, AC Adapter, and narrowed it down to the actual MJ Plus component. When I used his router, his MJ, my adapter, my extension cord Caller ID worked. When i swapped to mine it did not. We then tried the test at my house, using my router, my cabling, etc. Same results. My MJ Plus did not work for caller ID. Will attempt to get through to the 'tedious techs at MJ' tomorrow; but the symptoms indicate a bad 'batch of MJ Plus'...I believe this is so in that many of the posts said they had MJ for 13,14, or 15 months...that is my time-frame also.

Same problem as ALL stated: been driving me C-R-A-Z-Y.

My caller ID shows "Line Error" when plugged into router, but works fine when plugged into computer.
Phone handsets show ALL relevant info when plugged into computer but don't even show that a call
was received, when plugged into router.

If MagicJack can't fix problem "right away" (NOT sure why), can't they at least post something on their website to let everyone know that A PROBLEM DOES EXIST...and IT"S ON THEIR END ?????

It would save a GREAT many people from endless hours of trying to fix it on their own end.

    1. I know this is an old post, but for anyone else looking for help, I had a line error and all I had to do is unplug the adapter. Once plugged back in, it worked fine.

Having same problem here, too. Last ID received was May 28. Have been looking online since then to see if anybody else having the issue, this is the first thread I've found so far. This pretty much confirms it's MJs issue. I wasn't going to contact Support b/c I figured I wouldn't get anywhere, but the more of us that bug them is probably better for us. I hope they fix it soon, but I've begun looking at alternatives b/c this is getting frustrating. It seems every couple months there's an issue.

Oh, very thankful I am not alone in this. Caller ID stopped around the time you all said. I have tried DMZing it, port forwarding, among other things. I guess we will just wait a little longer. We have just dumped Xfinity/Comcast for this. The ID does come through when MJ+ is hooked to my computer. But, not when plugged into the router/modem via ethernet. MJ+ could be so awesome if they spend a little time and investment in the infrastructure. I'm sure they can still make millions.

Having same problem with Magic Jack Plus using supplied USB-AC adapter. Caller id has not displayed since May 29th. Chatted with Magic Jack support individual who said the engineers were aware of and working on the problem.

Caller id displays on phone when Magic Jack is plugged into USB port on the PC. This implies that neither the router nor the phone are at fault.

  8. Seems to be an ongoing recurring issue. Caller ID was fine here but stopped since 9/22/16. None of the usual troubleshooting works.
