Magicjack Go: Magicjack Go Review

I have very bad luck before with Magicjack before the Plus model came out. Wondering if the Go model is preferable to the Plus model. Looks like both work directly off your router. Of course ideally I'd like to use an IP phone but it doesn't look like its possible. Could someone please confirm that?

So I pulled my phone service from Verizon Digital Voice and went to Magic Jack. Verizon lowered my bill by a total of $0.00. I won't go any further, Verizon is on my $#@% list right now.

As for Magic Jack. My problems are as follows:

    1. Name no longer appears on caller ID

    2. On my cordless phones it verbally announces the name or number that's calling. Used to work fine. Now it no longer announces the name (problem 1 above), and when announcing the number leaves off the last 2 digits. Neither of which happened on Verizon digital voice

    3. Broken up audio (at times). I've got 25/25 FIOS internet and MagicJack is connected directly to the router. At times I've had broken audio. Everyone in the family has reported the same problem. I so wanted MJ to be a viable alternative. We don't use our home phone that much, but when we do, we expect it to work. MJ for us has not worked. I tried following the FAQ about improving audio quality to no avail. As a result, I'm going back to Verizon for phone until I can get rid of it once and for all. We keep it really for 911.

The reason I asked is that I just talked to someone using Magicjack and it was just like a landline. I've never heard a VOIP line sound so good or maybe I just assume they are landlines when they are so good! I'm very sensitive to phone deficiencies like cell phones....ugh. But if its perfectly clear only some of the time, that's certainly not worth it.

I bought a magicjack for my uncle overseas to facilitate the family calling back and forward. I can attest that names on caller ID or audio don't always work, but not too many drops in audio at all.

Service has been good so far on a 6mbit line across the Atlantic ocean back to Canada. I think this kind of service will have varied experiences due to routes and a list of other variables.
